Wharton County District Attorney's Office provides advocacy with two dedicated victims assistance coordinators for each court division (misdemeanors and felonies). In addition to victims assistance coordinators, there are designated support staff members who have obtained Presumptive Eligibility Training to assist with Crime Victims Compensation applications as well as Address Confidentiality Program application process. WCDA provides assistance by scheduling meetings with prosecutors and victims to review any pertinent case details as well as provide updates regarding pending criminal cases, trial preparation, courtroom preparation, and one-on-one availability as requested for meetings specific to each case. Victims assistance coordinators are available to accompany victims to court settings, forensic interviews, and/or meetings with law enforcement or the prosecution team. Furthermore, WCDA is available to assist sister law enforcement agencies with application processes if the victim lives in our jurisdiction on a case by case basis.
